Buying a car at US auctions: how to minimize the risk of damage and fix possible defects

Today, in order to purchase a vehicle with maximum benefit, more and more Ukrainians are studying USA auto auctions. They start almost on a daily basis and allow you to purchase a serviceable vehicle that has already been used at a minimal cost. Delivery is usually handled by experienced transport companies, which guarantee the safe transportation of cars from the USA to Ukraine in special containers to the Odesa port.

And even if the auction guarantees an accurate description of the car, you cannot be 100% insured against the fact that the owner will hide possible defects and damage. This does not happen often, but it is still better to be prepared and find out in advance: what can be hidden defects and what types of damage can be fixed on the car with minimal expenses?

Types and degree of danger of damage to cars from the USA

First of all, let's analyze which damage to cars from auctions is the most dangerous (rollover, biohazard, and others) and why:

1. 1Biohazard. A mark that demonstrates that a vehicle offered at auction in the United States has been damaged by contact with hazardous biological or chemical substances. Usually, such damage does not have external manifestations on the body. However, it can be observed, for example, an unpleasant smell or specific pollution of the interior, which cannot be removed. It can be both poisonous substances and, for example, human blood after a car gets into a traffic accident. We do not recommend purchasing vehicles with a Biohazard label. After all, the consequences of such damage are almost impossible to remove.
2. 2Rollover. This is nothing but a complete overturn of the car as a result of its getting into a traffic accident. Often, due to a strong collision or sharp turns or falls, cars flip onto their roofs. Such damage significantly affects the condition of the body, changes its tightness and geometry. In some cases, cars marked Rollover can be repaired. However, in most cases, they are not recoverable.
3. 3Burn. Another type of significant car damage that occurs is when the car comes into contact with an open flame. After a fire, the vehicle is difficult to restore. Not only the interior can be damaged, but also key internal components and systems. Therefore, a car caught in a fire is not recommended for purchase.

Usually, the car owner reports all these damages, indicating them in the description of the auction item. That is, you will know in advance that the car, for example, was involved in an accident and has a damaged front part or was deformed due to being hit by a strong hail, storm, hurricane, etc.

Is it possible to order cars from the USA for the sale of spare parts

It is not uncommon for cars that are not quite suitable for operation to be put up at US auctions. Or need such expensive repairs that the restoration process is unprofitable for a new buyer. In this case, many are interested in whether it is profitable to buy a car at an auction in the USA for sale for spare parts in Ukraine? After all, individual elements of the vehicle may well be working. And therefore - quite valuable and expensive.

Here, everything will depend on which model of car you purchased. However, in most cases, there is no significant benefit from the fact that you buy a car in the USA and sell it for spare parts on the territory of Ukraine. After all, the very process of transporting the car, its customs clearance and registration entails an additional cost that will not be covered by the further sale of spare parts.
